What are some of the most famous archaeological sites in Ireland?

At Mount Sandel in County Derry evidence was discovered about Ireland’s first settlers. They lived by hunting and gathering wild fruit and berries. The site is believed to be about 9,000 years old.
The Ceide Fields are in Mayo. Here archaeologists found that there was a very large farming area from the Stone Age under a bog. The site was over 5,000 years old.
Wood Quay in Dublin was one of the largest Viking archaeological sites in Europe. The finds are now on display in the National Museum.
Over the next few chapters we will read about other important archaeological discoveries not just in Ireland but in other countries.
